Description

A primordial image, character or pattern that recurs throughout literature and thought consistently enough to be considered a universal concept or situation. All religions are repositories of transpersonal experience and archetypal images. Religious practices attempt to hold up to view such transpersonal categories of existence and attempt to relate them to the individual. It is considered doubtful whether collective human life could survive for any period without some common, shared sense of awareness of such categories.
