Description

Social integration is one component of international integration (separately described) and may be defined as:

1. Development of a pattern of transactions between units belonging to different national states. Such transactions may include trade, mail, movement of persons, etc.

2. Creation of a transnational society or the abolition of national impediments to the free flow of transactions. Mass social integration may be usefully distinguished from the process of integration of special groups or elites.
