1. Principles and practices associated with a movement toward worldwide interconfessional Christian unity.
2. The movement promotes through functional organizations cooperation between church bodies on such common tasks as missions and work among students. Mutual understanding on fundamental issues in belief, worship, and polity, and a united witness on world problems is promoted through conferences.
3. Different forms of ecumenism (sometimes in opposition to one another) are associated with: the World Council of Churches, the Roman Catholic Church, the Movement for Church Union, denominational ecumenism, and evangelical ecumenism.
