Description

1. A work that explains the order and interrelations of human knowledge by treating all the various branches of human knowledge, usually in the form of individual entries on each aspect, and frequently arranged in alphabetical order with cross-references between entries.

2. The movement for the unity of science gave rise to an encyclopaedia of unified science as representing the best genuine model of science as a whole. An encyclopaedic integration of scientific statements, with all the discrepancies and difficulties which appear, was considered to be the maximum of integration which could be achieved at the time.
