Description
A theory concerning the distribution of points around one or more central points with which they have some dependent functional relationship. The theory has been developed by geographers in connection with the distribution of human settlements as forming a hierarchical pattern of central places in which the functional importance of the central place is determined by an index of centrality (separately described).
